The young German conductor unites dynamic lightness with an exciting sense for sound creation. The inspirational musician draws his feeling for precision, colors and musical phrasing also from a background as successful cellist and chamber musician.

Conductor and cellist Ingmar Beck is prize-winner of the Aspen Conducting Prize of the Aspen Music Festival 2016 (USA) and the “Robert J. Harth Conductor Prize” of the Aspen Music Festival 2015 (USA), Audience Award Winner of the Operetta Competition 2016 of Opera Leipzig, and holds a scholarship of the “Academy Music Theatre” of the Deutsche Bank Foundation. He is founder and conductor of the Munich chamber orchestra „Asam Classical Soloists“.  From 2012 to 2017 he was conductor of the Municipal Choir Klosterneuburg/Vienna.

He is regularly working and performing with orchestras like the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Nürnberg Symphony Orchestra, North West German Orchestra Herford, Lucerne Festival Strings, Schleswig-Holstein Symphony Orchestra Flensburg, Philharmonic Orchestra Zwickau, Philharmonic Orchestra Baden-Baden, Savaria Symphony Orchestra and the Israel Chamber Orchestra. In June 2016 he made his debut at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein conducting the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna. As assistant conductor he gained further experiences at the Canadian Opera Company Toronto, Opéra de Lyon, Châtelet Theatre Paris, Theater an der Wien and the Aspen Opera Centre. In 2009 he made his debut at the Salzburg Music Festival.

Ingmar Beck started his musical career as a member of the Augsburg Boys Choir. After his cello diploma in Weimar, Budapest and Graz, he graduated with distinction in orchestra conducting of the Academy of Music in Vienna. He is a prize-winner of international chamber music competitions as violoncellist and piano accompanist, was scholar of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for three years, scholar of the “Conductors' Forum” of the German Music Council and of the Richard Wagner Foundation.

In summer 2018 Ingmar Beck made his debut with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, assisted Johannes Debus at Bregenz Festival and performed Hasse's "Antonio e Cleopatra“ with the Asam Classical Soloists. Engagements of this coming season include his return to the Opéra de Lyon, the Nürnberg Symphonic Orchestra and to the Canadian Opera Company Toronto (COC). He was invited to assist Daniel Harding during a Japan-tour of the Orchestre de Paris, which he also conducted on occasion of the season presentation. He also conducted the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra iin a similiar occasion. He made his debut at the Hamburg State Opera with a world creation in May 2019 and has been invited back for another world premiere in November 2020. 

Projects this season include concerts and a recording with his chamber orchestra Concerto Sacra as well as a concert with the Hamburger Symphoniker in the Elbphilharmie. 

As from next season, he will be 1. Kapellmeister at the Landestheater Linz.

Baroque Celebration Concert - Kurfürstensaal April 2016

Der straff punktierte Rhythmus und die spannungsvolle Tongestaltung ließen in einem Grave von Johann Adolph Hasse zu Beginn majestätische Würde geradezu fühlen. Die folgende Fuge erhielt trotz des sehr raschen Tempos ihre transparente Durchhörbarkeit durch die klare Phrasierung und den vitalen Ton. (...) Ingmar Beck führte die Sopranistin und die Altistin ebenso stilsicher wie die 13 Augsburger Domsingknaben. Konzertant und kraftvoll war der Charakter des "Ecce enim", wobei die absolute rhythmische wie tonliche Präzision der Knaben und die stimmige Balance absolut beglückend war. Im Schlussteil waren Solisten und Chor intensiv verzahnt, was die Aussagen "Tunc acceptabis - Gloria Patri" sehr schön verdichtete.
